Lisa Liang
Richard Chen
Richard Chen

Dear Sir or Madam,
We, individuals and organisations from New South Wales in Australia, sister state of Guangdong Province, are shocked to learn that five of our citizen’s family members Ms Tang Yiwen, Ms Yan Haiyu, Ms Zhang Alian, Mr. Chen Ruichang and Mrs Chen are being incarcerated and subject to abuse in forced labour camps, and the only reason of their incarceration is that they practise Falun Gong, a peaceful self-improvement system that teaches the principle of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance”.
Imprisonment of any person based on his or her beliefs is regarded by the international community as a gross violation of human rights, an act against humanity. Both International laws and China’s own constitution offer protection for freedom of beliefs, and China is a signatory of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Throughout history, crimes against humanity have always ended up in trials by the international community. The lawsuits in the US and in Switzerland against China’ former president Jiang Zemin, who orchestrated this persecution, and the lawsuit in France against the “610 Office” which carries out this persecution, clearly reflect this.
We understand that over 20,000 cases of persecution have been filed at www.fawanghuihui.org, and The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong is carrying out systematic investigations into the crimes of torture against Falun Gong practitioners, including these members of Australian citizens’ families.
Guangdong Province is sister state of New South Wales, we do not wish to see any crime against humanity being tolerated there, nor do we wish to see anybody being convicted.
All those who are incarcerated for their beliefs must be released, and be reunited with their families. We hereby call for the immediate and unconditional release of:
Ms Tang Yiwen – sister of Ms. Lisa Liang
Ms Yan Haiyu – sister of Mr. Yan Zhihui
Ms Zhang Alian – sister of Dr. Zhang Xiaogang
Mr. Chen Ruichang – brother of Mr. Richard Chen
Mr. Liang Zihui—sister-in-law of Mr. Richard Chen
We also call for the immediate and unconditional release of all Falun Gong practitioners being incarcerated. They are prisoners of conscience and should never have been deprived of freedom.
Please pass this message to your friends, colleagues, and neighbors for their sake: – do not take part in this persecution against the innocent. History has taught us that blindly carrying out orders from superiors does not constitute an excuse for anyone to partake in crimes committed against humanity, and such crimes will be punished.
When this persecution comes to an end, those who valued his or her conscience will most definitely find greater rewards, and more importantly find peace in their hearts.
Yours sincerely,
The undersigned from Australia
