大約一年前，我們當地中文大紀元報社正在找尋編輯，一位同修想到了我，便打電話問我是否願意接任這個工作。由於自己已忙於其他項目，當時我一口就回絕了，之後同修多次和我交流此事，我才開始認真思考。看到大紀元需要幫忙，我又不願當劈苞米的熊瞎子，左右為難的時候出了一念，如果是助師正法的需要，那我責無旁貸，必須全力以赴。做出決定後不久，發現我家鐵門上盛開著一排優曇婆羅花。能夠參與師父正法的過程，盡我微薄的心力，那是我無比的榮幸，也是正法時期大法弟子應盡的責任。
About a year ago, our local Chinese Epochtimes office was looking for an editor. A practitioner thought about me and called to ask if I would like to take on the role. I was already busy with other projects, so I rejected her immediately. Later on, that same practitioner shared with me several times, I then began to think about it carefully. I knew that Epoch Times needed help, but I was not willing to be a blind bear picking corn, so I was finding it hard to make up my mind. Then I had a thought- If this is what is needed to help Master rectify the Fa, then I have to go ahead and work hard without hesitation. Not long after I made my decision, I discovered some Udumbara flowers blossoming on our gate at home. Being able to be part of Master’s Fa rectification process, putting in my bit of effort, is my tremendous privilege, as well as my responsibility as a Fa rectification period Dafa disciple.
一、救人的媒體
I. Life-saving media
作為一名報紙的編輯，絕大部分的時間都在電腦前與文字為伍，過程中也深刻體會到萬物皆有靈的道理。無論文字、圖片都有生命，帶著正面能量去寫作和編輯文章，對讀者就能起到好的影響，反之會變異人的思想和文化，進而害人。
As a newspaper editor, I sit in front of the computer working on words most of the time. During this process, I deeply experience that everything has its spirit. No matter if its words or images, they are all alive. Carrying positive energy while writing and editing will have a good effect towards readers; on the contrary if the energy is not good, it will have the opposite effect.
師父在《世界法輪大法日講法》中說道：“大家知道，甚麼叫聽到、甚麼叫看到啊？不像人想的，哦，我看完了就完了，我也沒有把它拿過來；我聽到了我也沒有去學，就沒事了。不是的，任何東西都是物質的，你聽到了，就灌進去了，就進到你身體裏。你看到了就進去。”
Master said in “Fa Teaching on World Falun Dafa Day”：“Do you know what it means to “have heard” or “have seen” something? It’s not what people think, where after you’ve viewed something, it’s over with if you didn’t take it with you; or when you’ve heard something but didn’t pursue it further, it doesn’t matter. That’s not the case. All things are material. When you have heard something, it has been infused into you, and it enters your body. When you have seen something, it has entered.”
為了使讀者更能接受我們的報紙，每週我都會在常人的網站上閱讀大量的文章，尋找有益的新聞線索。看著世上紛紛擾擾的大事小事，更覺得我們媒體的重要，唯有明白法理的大法徒才能夠協助師父救度迷在亂世中的世人，歸正人們變異的想法和急速下滑的道德觀。閱讀五花八門的常人文章，有時候也會受到干擾。一次看了一則當地重大的社會新聞後，渾身難受極了，意識到文章背後有不好的東西，趕緊發正念剷除才平靜下來。修改有黨文化的文章也不是一件容易的事。起初我並不知道為何有時修改大陸同修的文章會感到頭疼、心煩等等，後來意識到原來是文字間存有黨文化，和同修們交流後，我們開始全面去除黨文化，不讓邪靈的東西影響我們救人。也感到我們的責任真的很重大，在這個歷史的關鍵時刻和邪惡在搶人。
In order to let readers accept our paper better, each week I read a lot of articles on everyday people’s websites to find beneficial news idea. While looking at the chaos happening in this world, I understand more about the importance of our media. Only Dafa disciples who know the Fa are able to assist Master to save people living in this messy world, and rectify people’s degenerated thoughts and fast declining moral perspectives. After reading all sorts of articles, sometimes I also got interfered by them. Once after reading a local major social news story, both my mind and body felt very uncomfortable. I then realised there were bad things behind the article. I quickly sent forth righteous thoughts to clear them away, and was then able to calm myself down. Editing articles containing party culture is also not an easy job. Initially I did not know why I had a sore head and felt unsettled in my heart. while editing some articles written by Mainland Chinese practitioners. Later I realised it was because of the hidden party cultures within the words. I shared with practitioners and we began to eliminate it, not letting evil’s things affect us saving people. Through this process I also feel that we have a big responsibility, fighting with the evil to save people at this critical historical period.
《在大紀元會議上講法》中師父說 ：“人的思維其實比較簡單，很多人他就相信媒體講的，多數人平時信息來源也都是從媒體上得到的，那麼這種信息工具對於你們救度世人和證實法是很有利的，實際上在講清真相中真的是起到了非常好的效果。” 認識到了媒體對人的巨大影響，我反覆思考怎樣才可以真正的救度眾生，讓更多人喜歡我們的報紙。師父說：“人的喜好是沒有標準的。任何一樣東西做好了人都喜歡，就看你的質量怎麼樣。”（《在新唐人電視討論會上的講法》）
Master said at “Fa Teaching Given at the Epoch Times Meeting”: “The thinking that human beings have is in fact rather simple. Many people believe whatever the media says, and in the majority of cases it is the media that normally serves as a person’s source of information. As such, this informational mechanism is very useful to you in your efforts to save the people of this world and validate the Fa. And in fact, it really has had a remarkably positive impact in terms of clarifying the truth.” After realising how big the impact that media has on people, I continuously think how we can truly save sentient beings via the media, and how to encourage more people to read our paper. Master said: “There is no set standard for what people like. When anything is done well, people like it. It comes down to quality.”（from Fa Teaching Given at the NTDTV Meeting）
我悟到，想要救人，質量是最重要的，不只是報紙內容的質量，心的質量更關鍵。在獨自工作時、和整體配合時、與同修過心性關時，我都儘量提醒自己要將救人擺在第一位，努力放棄自我、修好自己。神韻高質量的演出起到救人的效果非常好，我也一直在學習和揣摩神韻的精神。比如：
I have enlightened, that in wanting to save people, quality is the most important thing. Not only the quality of the paper, but also the quality of our heart is even more critical. While working by myself, cooperating with others, going through Xinxing tests with other practitioners, I tried my best to remind myself to put saving people as priority, trying hard to let go of self and cultivate better. Shen Yun’s high quality performance has a very good effect on saving people, I have been trying to figure out how to learn from them. For example, 4 points I have learned.
1. 在編輯文章時要用心：注意每個小細節，反覆檢查，無時無刻考慮讀者是否能夠看明白我們要表達的內容，寫作的角度是否能夠讓人接受，出發點是否純淨、完全為了對方好。
1. When editing articles I need to be wholehearted, careful with little details, check many times, always consider if the readers would understand what we are trying to express, think about if our writing angles are acceptable by others, check if my heart is pure and completely think about other people.
2. 相互補足，無條件向內找：每週報紙印出來多少會發現一些錯誤，有時心裡會責怪同修不夠仔細，後來意識到不能向外看，找找自己才發現我的安逸心、依賴心也是促使錯誤發生的罪魁禍首之一，我必須停止抱怨、默默補足。
2. Complement each other, look within myself without any conditions. Every week after our paper was printed, there were generally some mistakes. Sometimes in my heart, I blamed others for not being careful enough. Later I realised I cannot look outwards, and after looking within myself, I discovered that my attachments of comfort and reliance also caused the error to occur. I told myself to stop complaining, and instead silently complement others.
3. 去除觀念、配合整體：經常因為廣告顧客的需求，我們編輯部必須臨時變動或取消版面的內容，有時部門間不同的意見使矛盾相當激化。一天，我想起了一位神韻領舞演員的交流，她說即使自己跳得很完美，但其他演員沒做到位也不行，因為觀眾看的是整體的效果，不是只看領舞一個人。我破除了人的觀念，沒有你我之分，不證實自己，我們各個部門其實就是一個整體，沒有了誰都不行，所以我們要配合好，多看彼此的長處。
3. Eliminate notions, cooperate with the body: Often when meeting advertising customers’ needs, our editorial team had to adjust or cancel content with short notice, sometimes opinions between different departments were considerably intense. One day, I remembered a sharing from a Shen Yun lead dancer, she said even if she was able to dance perfectly on the stage, if others did not play their roles properly it is not going to work, as the audience is looking at our whole body effect, not just watching the lead dancer. I then broke through my human notion, no longer distinguishing between you and me, not validating myself, as all departments in fact are one body. It will only work with all of us, thus we need to cooperate well and try to see more of each other’s strengths.
4. 聽師父的話：神韻演員為何能夠達到如此專業化的程度，我認為是因為他們非常聽師父的話，師父告訴要多學法、遇事向內找，他們認認真真、踏踏實實的在做。我發現自己就是不夠聽話，所以提高的很慢。最近也決定要更加精進，每天早上和同修們一起學一講法後才開始一天的工作。我體會到帶著恭敬的心態學法，法的內涵就會展現，長期放不下的執著心也在這個過程中放下了，真正明白法理後才能提高心性，突破難關。
4. Listen to Master: How do Shen Yun performers reach such a professional standard? I believe it is because they carefully follow what Master said. Master told us to study the Fa more, always look within ourselves, and the performers they are doing that earnestly and steadfastly. I realised my problem is not following Master’s words as much as I should, therefore upgrading slowly. Recently I have decided to be more diligent, I wake up every morning to study one lecture with a group of practitioners before I begin my day. I have experienced that if I have a respectful heart while doing Fa study, the meaning of the Fa will then display itself. Through this process, I finally broke through an attachment of mine which was hanging around for a long time. Only by truly understanding the Fa are we able to upgrade our Xinxing, and therefore able to break through tribulations.
二、走入社區講真相
II. Clarify the truth in local communities
在《二零一零年紐約法會講法》中師父說： “推廣大紀元、新唐人本身也是在講真相，做媒體推廣中接觸的人就是講真相的對象。”
Master said in “Fa Teaching Given at the 2010 New York Fa Conference”: “Promoting the Epoch Times and NTDTV itself serves as clarifying the truth, and those you encounter while promoting the media are precisely people to clarify the truth to.”
除了編輯工作外，我也經常受邀參加常人的各種活動，以媒體人的身份很容易接觸到各界主流人士，不但可以推廣我們的媒體，同時也為將來神韻賣票在鋪路。我體會到，現在救人是第一位的，以編輯和記者的身份出門採訪、社交，這都是給我講真相的大好機會。而且只要心裡想的是眾生，師父就會給予我們智慧。一次，我和新唐人的同修們配合，一起去拜訪當地新上任的台灣政府官員和他的下屬，我們從辦媒體的初衷講到法輪功學員反迫害，從法輪功對社會的益處說到善惡有報的天理。聽完後，這位官員發自內心對我們說，他非常敬佩法輪功學員在做的事，他認為我們站在了歷史對的一邊。其中他的一名下屬也對功法很感興趣，不停的問問題，臨走前她對我們說，她能感受到大法弟子很善良，有一種和別人不一樣的氣質。
Other than editing work, I often have been invited to attend different events and functions. As a media worker, I am able to meet and contact mainstream people quite easily and not only promote our media, but also pave the way for potential Shen Yun ticket sales. I have enlightened that since saving people is our priority, as an editor or reporter, conducting interviews and socialising with everyday people are great opportunities for me to clarify the truth to people. As long as we are thinking about saving sentient beings, Master will give us wisdom. One time, I was working with NTD practitioners, we visited a new local Taiwanese government official and his team members. We told them why we started our media, how Falun Gong practitioners are against the persecution, the benefits of Dafa for society, and how Good and Evil results in rewards and retributions. After listening to us, this government official spoke to us from the bottom of his heart, he said he has great admiration for the things that Falun Gong practitioners are doing, he thinks we are standing on the right side of history. One of his team members was very interested in the exercises, and she asked many questions. Before we left, she told us she can feel the kindness of Dafa disciples, and thought we are different from everyday people.
此外，由於現在大紀元和新唐人已聯合運作，我們當地兩個媒體每週都一起學法交流，群策群力做新聞。每週，擔任公關的同修會將我們兩個媒體製作的當地新聞，加上當前中國和國際上重要的新聞連結，通過電子郵件發給所有社團，一方面和他們保持聯繫，一方面潛移默化的讓他們進一步了解真相。經過一段時間的努力，現在許多社團都對我們的媒體越來越認可，也願意和我們合作，在他們舉辦的活動中放上我們媒體的標識，幫忙推廣。
In addition, because Epochtimes and NTD are now combined, practitioners in our local media teams study the Fa, share, and produce news together each week. Our PR person also emails out news links produced by both our media to the local community each week, at the same time adding in a few important China news and International news stories. By doing this, we can maintain relationships with the community, as well as clarify the truth to them imperceptibly. After making effort for a while, many local groups are now recognising and liking our media. They are also willing to work with us by printing our logo on their event banners and materials, helped to promote our media.
三、讀者反饋
III. Feedback from readers
在整體同修努力的配合下，我們近幾個月收到了許多讀者的正面反饋和投稿。一次一位中國人告訴我，她的朋友們原本從不看大紀元時報，最近看過一次後發現這麼好看，和其他報紙一比較，他們說只有大紀元的內容最豐富、最正面。我們編輯部信箱也陸續收到了不少讀者的投稿，而且大部份都是中國大陸背景的讀者來信，他們不但願意寫文章支持大紀元，還在信中鼓勵我們繼續努力。
With the great effort of everyone in our media team, we have received positive feedback and article submissions from readers over the months. One time a Mainland Chinese lady told me, that her friends were never willing to read the Epochtimes paper before, but recently they have read it and discovered that the paper is great. They’ve compared it with other local Chinese paper, and concluded that only the Epochtimes has the most variety of content and is most positive. Moreover, our editors email box also received many article submissions from our readers, with a majority from Mainland Chinese readers. They are not only willing to submit articles to support the Epochtimes, but in their emails they also encouraged us to keep up the good work.
許多有緣的眾生也經常被安排來到我們的辦公室。有一次，一個剛從中國大陸來到布里斯本的男士，想來大紀元應徵工作，學員和他講了真相並幫他三退，男子激動的說他原本對法輪功有誤解，但是短短幾天裡他遇到了兩名真誠、善良的法輪功學員，使他對大法徹底改觀。幾天後他向我們投稿，寫下了他重新認識法輪功的這個過程。
Many people who have predestined relationships with Dafa are also often arranged to come to our office. Once there was a Mainland Chinese man who had just arrived in Brisbane, and wanted to find a job in the Epochtimes. A practitioner in the office told him the truth and helped him quit the CCP. That man said excited that he used to have misunderstanding about Falun Gong, but only within a few days in Australia, he met two sincere and kind Falun Gong practitioners, who helped him totally change his views about Dafa. A few days later, he wrote an article and submitted it to us, about the process of how he came to understand Falun Gong.
四、工作中的心性關有如一面鏡子
IV. Xinxing tests during work are like a mirror
參與媒體工作中經常有心性考驗，在許多壓力面前，人心會不斷浮現。我也深切體會到，修煉人沒有偶然的事情，被我看到、聽到的也必然有我提高的因素。舉例說，我經常看到同修表現出做事草率、不夠認真，有一段時間我真的感到很無奈，在心裡責怪同修。直到有一天，師父通過我女兒的嘴來點化我，我才悟到，我不能老看別人，老要求別人提高而自己不提高，我問自己：學法、煉功、發正念都做到位了嗎？答案當然是沒有，所以我意識到自己老處於這種不到位的狀態中，是會一環扣一環影響到整體的。悟到後，開始抓緊修自己，思路變得清晰多了，工作自然就順利，同修也逐漸開始進步了。
Working in media, we often come across xinxing tests. Having a lot of pressure in front of us, human thoughts can easily appear. I also deeply experienced that nothing is a coincidence for cultivators. Anything that I’ve seen and heard must be for me to upgrade myself. For example, I often saw practitioners working carelessly, not putting enough effort into it. For quite a while I was feeling helpless and blamed practitioners inside my heart. Then one day, Master used my daughter’s mouth to give me a hint. I then realised that I cannot always look at others, always requiring others to upgrade and not upgrading myself. I asked myself: Fa study, doing exercises, sending forth righteous thoughts, have you done everything properly yet? My answer was “no”. Thus, I realised if I always stay in this not–so–righteous position, I will affect others in the body. I decided to cultivate myself better, which resulted in my thinking becoming clearer. My work was therefore smoother, and at the same time, other practitioners also began to improve their work.
我也經常聽到有同修在抱怨和指責他人，起初我感到很著急，一直想著要如何幫助化解同修間的矛盾。後來我發現自己還是向外找了，我不也同樣常常在心裡嘀咕、怪別人嗎！生氣時也不注意修口，向其他人抱怨。仔細想想，我為什麼有不滿情緒呢？我找到了執著自我的私心，我不高興是因為我只考慮到了自己的感受、處境和想法，都沒設身處地的為別人著想。我也意識到，對同修負面的想法在另外空間都是物質，會形成我們之間的間隔，會造成干擾。後來再有這種負面念頭，我就立刻否定它。不好的東西清理掉，再看看同修，個個都這麼優秀，都是助師正法的大法徒。
I often heard some practitioners complaining and blaming other people. Initially I was very worried, and I kept thinking how to solve the issues between practitioners. Later I realised I was still looking outward, and I actually behaved the same, often blaming others in my heart. When I was angry, I also didn’t cultivate my speech and complained to others. I thought carefully, why did I feel discontent? I found my attachment of selfishness. The reason that I was not happy is because I only considered my own feelings, situation and thoughts and never put myself into other people’s shoes to think about them. I have also realised, that negative thoughts toward other practitioners in other dimensions are all substances, and can create gaps and interference between us. Later on, when negative thoughts came up, I tried to eliminate them immediately. Once I had cleared off the bad substances, I again looked at practitioners and everyone was so excellent, and all Dafa disciples helping Master to rectify the Fa.
最近感到時間越來越快，唯有不斷提高自己，才能跟上正法進程，才能真正救度眾生。最後以師父在《甚麼是大法弟子》一文中的一段話和大家共勉：“你們救度世人想要叫他們醒過來、救度他們，你們自己也得醒啊、也得醒悟。事情做多了就忘記了自己的修煉，這也不行啊。你們是修煉人，這句話不是說你過去、曾經、或者是你的表現，這句話是說你的本質、你的生命的意義、你肩負的責任、你歷史的使命，這樣你才是真正的大法弟子。”
Recently I felt the time has become faster and faster. Only by continuing to upgrade myself am I able to catch up with the Fa rectification process, and then be able to truly save sentient beings. Finally, I would like to share a few words of Master from “What is a Dafa Disciple”: “When you seek to save the world’s people, you try to get them to awaken so that you can save them. Well, you too need to get clear, to wake up. It’s a problem if you forget about your cultivation because of doing too many things. You are cultivators. I’m not talking about your past, what you once were, or what you display on the surface. I am talking about your core and the meaning of your life, the responsibility you shoulder, and your historic mission. Only thus are you truly a Dafa disciple.”
