9月8日，法輪功學員在胡錦濤下榻的WESTIN酒店前請願。（大紀元）
9月9日加拿大總理馬田在同來訪的中國國家主席胡錦濤的會談中明確提出了法輪功問題。
在馬田和胡錦濤的聯合記者招待會上說，『我想強調的是我們對人權和國家管理問題進行了深入的探討』 （I would like to highlight our thorough discussion of rights and governance）
『我們探討了西藏問題，我提出了法輪功的問題』 馬田說，『我們相信更好的國家管理需要對人權問題有更好的理解』 （We discussed Tibet and I raised issue of Falun Gong…we believe better governance requires a better understanding of human rights.）
